Growers Food Industries was established on July 1963 by Mr. Shu Too Thip who started his operations in his own backyard in Manila. His love for peanuts and pechant for experimenting sparked a concept in roasting that gave birth to the Garlic-Flavored, Less Grease Roasted Peanut. The product was a revolutionary because it was not messy and oily compared to the traditional "adobong mani."
In 1968, the operations were transferres to its address in valenzuela City to address the growing demands and the plant continued to expand as sales grow.
The 80's saw major changes and achievements for the company. GROWERS launched the 140 gram pouch using the stand-up pouch (SUP) foil design, the first in the snack food industry in the Philippines. Growers Food Industries was also incorporated as GFI Enterprises, Inc. with Mrs. Lily U. Shu Too as Chairman.
A wide range of new products with different variants were also introduced such as, Savory Hot Peanuts, Oriental Flavor Peanuts, Glazed Pili Nuts, Salted Pistachio, Onion & Garlic Almonds, toasted & Salted Cashew Nuts among others.
It was also during this time that GFI's Marketing Department was re-oriented. This period witnessed systematic and more aggressive marketing operations, thereby strengthening GROWERS foothold in the peanut industry. On the local front, much provincial expansion was achieved. Export requirements also started to grow.
In 1991, MarketReach Distributors, Inc. was established and appointed as exclusive distributor of GROWERS products in the Philippines and worldwide. Over the years MarketReach has expanded its market base, through consistent sales and distribution coverage and adoption of promotional strategies.
During the 40th Anniversary offering, GROWERS launched its latest product line-GROWERS Crumble Nuts, the first in the industry. This product innovation coupied with the colorful, youthful packaging design, signals a new phase in the life of GROWERS. The company was also recognized with numerous awards throughout the years and one of which in recent years have been the prestigious Superbrands Awards.
Today, GROWERS continues to innovate and adopt new concepts. Given the mission to enrich the lifestyle of every individual and to provide healthier food options and the vision to become every generations food brands of choice, the company recently launched another new product, the firtst to be manufactures locally- the Nutribar.
